Board of Assessors

The Board of Assessors has the responsibility to see that the department maintains assessment levels which are allowable by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, and that a timely tax rate is set each fiscal year. They make all major decisions involving the department, act on exemption and abatement applications, and establish all office policy.

 


 

State Mandated Measure and List Program

 

The Board of Assessors will begin their state mandated measure and list program the week of April 21, 2010.  The program will run from calendar year 2010 to 2013.

 

The contract for this program was awarded to the firm of Paul S. Kapinos and Associates.  A representative of the firm will be visiting all residential and commercial properties in the course of the next three years.

 

Employees of the firm carry picture identifications and their motor vehicles will be registered at the Ludlow Police Department.  Their function will be to measure the exterior of all structures, do an interior inspection, and photograph the exterior of the property. 

 

The firm will also be listing all taxable personal property within the Town.

 We will periodically update the location of the Town in which they are working in the Ludlow Register and on our Local Cable Access TV station.
